They say where there's no law, there's no crime. The saying has made the school management of Olabisi Onabanjo University to orientate its newest members into the school community.

The two day orientation programme saw dignitaries like the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde; Dean, Students Affairs, Prof Oladunjoye; Acting Registrar, Mr Akiitan; the Librarian, Dr Adebambo Adewale; Provost, College of Engineering and Technology, Prof J.O Akinyemi amongst others.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Ganiyu Olatunji Olatunde who gave his welcome and opening speech, welcomed the students into the school environment and told them why the orientation programme is organized.

He said that "this ceremony is organized to acquaint you with the rules governing your studentship in this university and to be familiar with the university environment".

He added that the university philosophy is to help students cultivate good reading skills and to provide useful learning. "In this university, our philosophy is to give useful learning to you students and to encourage you to cultivate a world view that facilitates not only the continuous pursuit of academic and moral excellence but also develop your expertise and competences in reducing the quagmire of society's disease, ignorance and squalor".

He however advised the students to be of good behavior since OOU is a multi campus conventional university, "as a student, you are expected to keep the flag flying. You should choose to be good ambassadors of this institution during your stay here and even after the completion of your studies".

He went on further to advice students to complete their registration on time and face their studies seriously.

Speaking also at the programme, Dr Oderinde lectured the students on se^x, drug and other anti-social behavior. She explained that se^xual activities, se^xual behavior and se^xual desires are normal and the decision to act on those desires is a controllable behavior, but s^exual misconduct is discouraged by the university and such attracts disciplinary actions from the university against offenders.

"There are many things in life that are more important than se^x. Though se^x is normal but sexual misconduct is discouraged. The University have zero tolerance to anti-social behavior. Ra^pe in the name of satisfying your se^xual urge is highly discouraged by the University and if anyone is caught he would face the disciplinary committee and has to be suspended or expelled from the University." She said.

To conclude, the Dean, Students Affairs, Dr. Oladunjoye appreciated the Vice Chancellor and other officers for making it a date to come for the orientation programme despite their busy schedule.
